Beware the Accountant

I have been running my practice for 20 years now, and have the dubious honour of having had to witness on more occasions than I care to remember the negligent actions of accountants (tax practitioners) with regard to their clients tax matters and affairs.
It is beyond my understanding or comprehension that when SARS do not attend to requests or actions by the accountants on behalf of their clients that they simply sit on their hands or wave them in despair, when there are remedies available in the law to tackle SARS. The problem is, those remedies have time limits and once you are beyond those limits you have no further recourse.
I have literally seen taxpayers having to pay SARS millions of rands they did not owe, due ENTIRELY to the non action and negligence of their accountants. And the tax payers simply accept this, or they wake up when SARS is taking the money out of their bank accounts and contact me, but it is by then simply too late and I cannot help them.
Just this week I have had the experience where a taxpayer timeously appointed me to assist with a R100 000 000 rand issue with SARS, and the accountant simply bypassed me and took steps without their clients approval that has literally sealed their fate.
My advice and warning to taxpayers... DO NOT simply trust your accountant or believe they know what to do on your behalf.
Please contact me if you are unsure. I will give you the initial advice free gratis and for nothing. And it might save you millions down the road.
