ABOUT

Alan obtained his LLB degree from the University of the Free State, and his LLM (Specialising in Tax Law) from the University of Pretoria.

His professional tax career commenced in July 1991, with his appointment as a tax advocate in the directorate Legal Services, in the erstwhile Department of Inland Revenue.

After he passed the bar exam in November 1996 Alan practised as a member of the Pretoria Society of Advocates for 5 years. During this time, he was also appointed as a chairman of the tax board.

He worked as a tax consultant for 3 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers and has run his own consultancy since June 2005.

Alan has extensive experience in the litigation process, see SERVICES for more details.He has represented both the Commissioner for Inland Revenue and taxpayers in the various tax courts.

Alan also provides legal opinions on proposed legislation, and a wide range of tax subjects, which include mining tax, sales tax, income tax, and value-added tax.


Alan’s +35 years of experience dealing with a vast number of tax issues has provided him with the necessary expertise to identify, and manage, a taxpayer’s various tax risks.
